GNB 5.102

May 6, 2026:

GOD’S WORD FOR TODAY:

“Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame….[until]

But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?‘ Adam answered, ‘I heard You in the garden. I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.’”

(Genesis 2.25; Genesis 3.9-10)

TODAY’S REFLECTION ON GOD’S WORD:

We don’t know what would have happened if Adam had intervened between Eve and the Serpent. If Adam could have been like Jesus in the Wilderness and refuted the query of temptation, would the Serpent feel the sting of rebuke and flee? For those who are a part of the “female empowerment” mindset, what if Eve, who knew as much as Adam being drawn from him in life and in spirit, had put aside the temptation and rebuked the Serpent’s question? (There wouldn’t be a need for female empowerment if Eve had said “no” in the garden; there would be teamwork, collaboration, equally yoked and true love. That is not what I hear in the female empowerment agenda today in any venue of communication.) The reality is that we do not know everything that God knows but we know that He had a plan of action for the “just in case they didn’t.” We can surmise the Eden environment for all eternity. We can only do it realistically based on what we know of the world as it is today? We are even challenged in God’s Word by a world that existed apart from Eden that is revealed without explanation except “that it was.” In the end, all of those conversations matter little because they resolve nothing about what happened which left this gap of knowledge that tempts our imagination. What does matter is what happened and how we deal with similar situations in our own lives knowing there is a better way, a better life and a definitive truth that cannot be counteracted.

They say hindsight is 20/20, but that is good only for learning how not to do the same thing over and over again. “Those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.” We are able to look back perfectly at that “eighth day” season and break it down into its elements. We are able to ask ourselves vital and insightful questions based on those observations. Even hearing the disparate viewpoints of what was happening (including the extant story of Lillith), there is much to consider as what to do, where to go and why. Only God, the Trinity, has the sole right to truth and its actual definition/explanation. That being said, we know we cannot change the past. God’s grace and mercy, forgiveness and blessing with the blood of Jesus took care of that. What is left for us is the message of righteousness which comes from that salvation and the direction of the Word of God by His Holy Spirit to lead the way through dark valleys, dangerous corners, deep rivers, high passes, floods, storms and earthquake, wind and fire and the attack of the enemy set to distract us from what we know is right: “Rebuke the Devil and he will flee.” We have a few examples of that victory. Let’s focus on those instead of the myriad examples of those who would rather choose defeat even in, and especially in, the seasons of denial. The day will come when denial and blame will show their ineptness and we cannot be saved from ourselves and a fate worse than death.

TODAY’S PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING:

Father, in these days we are finding the need to believe even more than ever before. We all have known trouble, some in greater ways than others, but You are offering us the assurance that we will not be consumed by it forever. Regardless of the “time” we are in and the “time” we have been given, we ask for Your Holy Spirit which Jesus asked You to share with us, to lead and guide and direct us in the paths we should go. Teach us what we still need to learn. Empower us to put that learning into action. Bless our actions not as a works righteousness but as righteous works of faith, hope and love in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
